Compliance Initiatives

With a global customer base around the world, it is Vectron's intent to fully support various country environmental directives where Vectron's product might be sold. Prominent among these are the European RoHS (2011/65/EC) and REACH (EC/1907/2006) regulations. Vectron's products are fully compliant to these directives and its design and development processes and manufacturing operations have been established to continue to meet the requirements of these directives. Vectron's product sold for commercial applications are fully compliant per the scope of these directives; product intended for military and hi–rel applications however are not intended to be compliant (due to use of Pb–based alloys in the product) and currently not in scope of these directives.

Vectron's product data sheets posted on the web–site indicate the status of compliance. Upon request Vectron can provides Certifcate of Compliance as well as material declarations in industry–accepted formats , e.g. IPC–1752.

In conjunction with the RoHS compliance, Vectron offers product that is lead free and is compatible with the high temperature reflow requirements for lead–free products. These generally include:

  • Capable of surviving peak reflow temperatures to 260°C, depending on product technology, geometry/volume per J–STD–020C
  • Moisture sensitivity level classification and identification
  • Lead–free status identification, such as labeling and/or new distinguishing part numbers

A brief status of Vectron's current product offering with RoHS compliance information is shown in Attachment 1. Product data sheets can be found on the Vectron web site.

Use of exemptions

Some parts may be compliant using exemptions. VI tracks the expiration dates of the exemptions and will ensure that only products that use permissible exemptions are provided to customers.

Typical exemptions in Vectron product include:

  • Copper alloy containing up to 4 % LEAD by weight
  • LEAD in high melting temperature type solders (lead–based alloys containing 85 % by weight or more lead)
  • LEAD in solders for servers, storage and storage array systems, network infrastructure equipment for switching, signaling, transmission, and network management for telecommunications
  • Electrical and electronic components containing LEAD in a glass or ceramic other than dielectric ceramic in capacitors (piezoelectronic devices) or in a glass or ceramic matrix compound
