Vectron is the world's largest broad-based manufacturer of crystal oscillators.
Whether your space application needs the moderate stability of a clock
or a stable reference requiring an ovenized configuration with ultra low phase
noise, we can provide it. In between those stability extremes, our products include
TCXOs, and VCXOs. These products utilize high reliability components and
construction, thick film hybrid, surface mounted or discrete, whichever is
appropriate for the application.
We have the expertise to design and build units with the mechanical integrity
and the proper radiation tolerance to operate reliably in space.
Our exceptional technical strength comes from the depth of our Engineering
Department. Our team of experienced crystal oscillator engineers is one of
the largest assembled anywhere. This unique team gives our customers innovative
designs, backed by unparalleled experience to provide optimum quality and
reliability.
In addition, our Engineering Department utilizes the most advanced instrumentation
and CAD/CAM equipment available to provide comprehensive solutions
via modified standard products or fully custom designs.
PROGRAM MANAGEMENT
At Vectron, your space program becomes as important to us as it is to you. If program
management is requested, your program is meticulously handled by our Space Program
Management Team, from inception through delivery and beyond.
Once an order is received, our Space Program Manager immediately calls a kick-off meeting of
our Applications, Quality, Manufacturing and Engineering Departments to ensure that all of your
specifications are completely understood. A program plan is developed and includes critical
milestones that will be closely monitored to keep program progress on track throughout the
entire project. Our team is dedicated and focused to deliver the oscillators you order, on time
and to your exact specifications.
MANUFACTURING
Manufacturing for space applications requires highly specialized facilities.
We have dedicated areas for space program manufacturing, including Class
100,000 clean rooms and Class 100 horizontal laminar work flow stations.
When applicable, we use automatic pick and place equipment, automatic
wirebonders and active and passive laser trimming. TQM and comprehensive
statistical process control (SPC) are utilized in our manufacturing process.
We are currently registered as ISO-9001. Where required, we pull material
from a segregated stock of Class S, JANS, JANTX, Established Reliability and
MIL-STD-883 screened components. Workmanship standards meet the requirements
of MIL-STD-883 for Hybrids and MIL-STD-454, MIL-STD-2000 and NHB5300.4(3A-1)
for discrete construction.
QUALITY ASSURANCE
It is absolutely essential to know that your oscillator meets your specs -
both electrical and environmental - before it goes into space.
Our state-of-the-art in-house testing facilities create a simulated space
environment that includes shock, vibration, humidity, temperature extremes,
vacuum, PIND, seal and others. Electrical test data is provided by computer
controlled automatic test equipment. All testing equipment is the most
advanced and accurate available. Each and every device is thoroughly tested
before it is delivered.
TESTING
The fully automated Vectron thermal vacuum system shown at right simulates
virtually any specified satellite space thermal vacuum profile to better
than 1 x 10-8 TORR. The system can simultaneously test at least
8 oscillators at a time, including OCXOs, TCXOs, VCXOs and hybridized products
and generates computerized test data sheets for a variety of performance
requirements.

Lockheed/Martin, JPL, Hughes, Motorola, Space Systems/Loral, Honeywell and

We are the only company on the Qualified Product List (QPL) for MIL-O-5310/16-S
oscillators built and screened to level "S", an exclusive approval by the
Defense Electronics Supply Center (DESC). This, along with approvals
by numerous military and aerospace contractors who have surveyed and
specified our products, is the ultimate testimonial to our ability to
successfully deliver space hardware.
